That should be our default position, stance, attitude and reaction: Come what may, I will praise God.
I heard a song over the weekend with a lyric that essentially said ‘God, if you do this, I will praise you.’ It struck me because what it was saying was that we worship God only if He has done something for us. The songwriter, and I dare say, a great many of us in the Church, and by that, I mean worldwide, have turned worship into a transaction.
God is neither a celestial vending machine nor a mythical figure like a genie or Santa Claus. He created the heavens and the earth, and you and me. He doesn’t just carry the world; He sustains the entire cosmos.
All of life, seen and unseen, and you and I are nothing without the LORD God. We cannot be without Him.
O my soul, you have said to the LORD, ‘You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You’.
Psalms 16:2
Worshipping God in our everyday life, even in the midst of our trying circumstances, gives us a better, wider and deeper perspective on what we are going through and how God uses it, is using it, to grow our faith and deepen our relationship with Him.
Decide today, right now, that you will always praise and worship God for Who He is. He is worthy of all praise.
Prayer
O LORD God Almighty, thank You, I’m alive! I can see, move, hear, write, type; I have a blog, a phone, access to the internet and a job. Thank You, LORD God, for You’ve given me all these things, with understanding how I can use them for Your purpose. I praise You, Father God. Even in the midst of pain, grief, sickness and poverty, I praise you, always, because You are worthy of all praise, glory and worship. In Jesus’ name I pray this. Amen.
