Encouraging Middle-aged Introverted Spinsters

Let me reassure you, singleness is a gift from God. You and I have probably arrived at our single lives through different paths.

Through vows of chastity, trauma, pain, shyness, introversion, or determination to not end up like the married or divorced women you know who are suffering in their marriages, who might be domestic abuse victims, or who find themselves disillusioned by marriage.

My decision to remain unmarried is a combination of all of the above. I’ll probably share more with you in a future post, but right now, I’d like to encourage you to remain faithful, and yes, pure, in your journey as a middle-aged, introverted spinster.

God sees us, you and I, in our struggles, and oh, how we struggle. First, there’s our introverted side, yearning for quiet, calm, and gentleness, and trying to be heard above the booming voices of our gregarious colleagues. Then there is our spinsterhood, which makes people uncomfortable, and us even more so, as we try to find a place to fit in and serve in our community and church.

If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to find something creative to do. I encourage you to nurture your creative side, whether you like to write, take photographs, sew, craft, bake, or garden. There are a whole lot more creative pursuits than what I’ve listed here, and you can do any of them, or a combination of them. Use your creative pursuits to reach out to people and share with them the Good News of Jesus Christ and God’s Salvation.

This is what I do here in my blog, where I combine my love of writing and photography. This is my mission field, my ministry.
