A hot cup of Ceylon tea, leftover tuna sandwiches, and chocolate biscuits. Just the thing to wind down a Friday evening, helping my mother and sister prepare tuna sandwiches, our offering for the after church get-together. Tonight is the last weekday service before school opens for the new school year next week.
Tuna sandwiches is all we can afford right now. Not many of us can give much, or anything at all. One of my grand-uncles, a long-retired widower, had nothing to offer, nor enough money to buy anything, so my mother prepared a second tray of sandwiches as his contribution. That’s something I can’t understand about church activities sometimes, that someone who can’t afford to give anything feels, or maybe, is made to feel, burdened or guilty, when they can’t give anything.
Maybe, this only happens here, in our small village. Maybe, I’m reading too much into all this. But I can’t help but feel that, perhaps, we’re spending too much time eating and drinking, in get-togethers, meetings, hosting each other, trying to make each other feel okay with themselves, but we miss cultivating deeper intimacy with God.
We spend time talking about Him, and not enough time having a conversation with Him
This is why I’m sharing this word of encouragement with you, to remind you that God knows you. And, He loves you.
For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
PSALMS 103:14 NKJV

Be Gentle With Yourself, God Already Knows You
Instead of hustling, or striving, I encourage you to come, sit down and rest awhile. Enjoy a conversation with Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, and tell Him how much He means to you.
Tell Him how grateful you are for being in your life, and that you’re in Him.
Thank Him for never turning His back on you, even when you don’t have the means to give as much as you want to give to the church. Tell Him how grateful you are that He supports and blesses your contribution to His Kingdom.
Prayer
“Father God, You are Holy and worthy to be praised! Please, help me, to continue to trust you and rely onYou. In Jesus’ name, I pray this. Amen!”
