Holiness to the Lord – Chapter 1 of Power Through Prayer

That is the core message of this book: Be holy.

You cannot preach anything meaningful and true when you’re empty of God’s spirit and presence.

All you’ll care about is your own gain, your vanity – how you look to others, and not how deep you are with God.

We can only know where we stand with God and how deep our relationship is when we spend time with Him. Converse with Him – for isn’t that what prayer is?

A man or woman who does not spend time in serious prayer, in conversation and communion with God, is running blind and empty.

E. M. Bounds writes…

The preaching man is to be the praying man. Prayer is the preacher’s mightiest weapon. An almighty force in itself, it gives life and force to all.

The real sermon is made in the closet. The man – God’s man – is made in the closet.

The core truth

Holiness is non-negotiable with God. To see Him, we must be holy. And He is the only One capable of making us holy because He is holiness itself.

The more we spend time with Him, the more He imparts His holiness to us, if we are serious about it, that is.

My takeaway

Watch and pray! Pray always. You cannot hear God’s voice if you’ve never heard Him in the secret place, in your prayer closet.

Prayer prompt

Ask God to grant you more time with Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words to pray.

God bless you in your journey. Amen
