Trust God With the Rest of the Year

Do you sometimes find yourself ‘checking in’ with God about something you’ve asked Him to handle, a situation you’ve ‘left in His hands’? I’ve done that a few times. Praying and asking Him to help someone I love and care about, and after a while, I’m back in prayer, reminding Him again, and again, about that someone, or about the situation, like He might forget, because, you know, He’s got the whole world to worry about.

There was a time, I cringe now remembering it, when I just had to control everything. Letting go was in words only. I would ask God for help, but I went ahead and did things my way, anyway. That was until the Holy Spirit taught me that in my holding on and never giving God full control of my life, I was telling God that I did not trust His judgment, I did not trust Him.

And if I didn’t trust Him, how could I be in a relationship with Him? How would I grow and learn to trust anyone?

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Release the Months Ahead to God

You’ve got to, otherwise, you won’t be able to move on.

I’m sure you’ve got some idea of what you’d like to achieve or obtain this year, right? Perhaps you’d like to grow in deeper intimacy with Jesus Christ, get more creative, be there more for your family, get a promotion, a pay rise, master a new skill, write a book, or be recognised for your talents. Whatever it is that we want to achieve this year, we both know that we can’t do any of it without God.

We cannot do anything good without God. Anything meaningful that changes us for the better, that touches the people around us, that turns hearts and minds to Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of the world, cannot be done without the LORD.

Trust God’s Guidance

It’s easy to say that God knows our end from our beginning, but what does it really mean for us? I know that as a middle-aged introverted spinster, it might be difficult to trust anyone.

But you can trust Jesus. How many people can say that they’d die for you and mean it? Okay, that might be a tad over the top, but think about it, Jesus Christ took our sins on the cross, and He saved us from an eternity in hell.

That’s why I trust Him. And He has never let me down.

There’s Peace in Surrender

But only when you surrender to the LORD. Not to anyone else, only to the Lord God. A wonderful sense of peace in your heart and mind.

Go through each area of your life, step by step, and surrender it to God. Remember to cover each area with the Blood of Jesus Christ, to cover each area that is open to the devil and his demons, and reject and renounce the devil’s influence in your life.

Allow God to work in you and to build your faith and trust in Him. Allow Him to work through you to reach others.

Prayer

“Father God, You are Holy and worthy to be praised! Thank You, for bringing me through to this year, and for keeping me safe throughout this year. Please, guide my every step, and show me Your ways. Cover my family and me with the Blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. I reject and renounce every evil influence in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray this. Amen!”

Writing Prompts

Gather your materials: Your Bible, your journal, diary or notebook; favourite pens, highlighters, etc.

Read through the verses again, pray, and write down a list of every area of your life, and everything else that’s important to you, and release them to the LORD. Write down what the Holy Spirit shows you to do.
